Bali – South Asia’s Most Beautiful Island – It’s not a lie if I say Bali is a Heaven for photographers. It is one of the most popular islands for holidays & This island is home to an ancient culture that’s known for its warm hospitality & good care.
Mount Batur Volcano
When we talk about Bali, its Historical & Exotic temples and palaces set against stunning natural moods in the background are some of its top attractions. it’ an also known for nightlife which offering exciting clubbing and ultimate dance floors. Bali is surrounded by volcanoes and virgin forests welcome you with cool breeze and raindrops. so the best time to visit Bali is March-May and September-October when the weather is so pleasant and with fewer tourists compared to other months.
Mount Batur
Bali is also a paradise for surfers and all beaches are fully filled with teenagers and young couples. Since I am Sri Lankan who’s trying to new perspective in Bali I didn’t find a huge difference in weather compared to Sri Lanka, yet it has some epic waterfalls I found more beautiful.
Just before I travel to Bali I make sure that everything is pre-planned as it’s 8 days long trip. So I use google to find some view pints to shoot Especially for volcanos and also for seascapes. so after doing research for more than two weeks, I made a list of 6 places to shoot, not only in Bali with Borobudur in Yogyakarta too. Not to forget Indonesia isn’t a country to use Public transport, but you can easily get a Bike for rent. it’s like 5$ per day which is so much cheaper. there are scooters available, but if you’re not interested to ride a bike you can also hire a taxi which also cheap and very affordable. if you want any help with transportation please DM me I’ll share the contact.
First thing I did was getting GPS navigations of locations. so I picked few waterfalls and 2 Volcanos and 2 places for Seascapes. I will write them as a list below. you can just type them in google map and will be easy to get the locations accurately or I have added the location from google map at the end of this blog.
1. Bali
Kecak Uluwatu
Tegenungan Waterfall
Tukad Cepung Waterfall, Bangli
Tibumana waterfall
Tegallalang Rice Terrace
2. Nusa Penida
Nusa Penida is an island away from Bali, to reach it you have to get a boat and there are many boat services available to go to Nusa Penida. the first boat leaves at 8.30 and the last boat is at 4.00 pm. so manage your timing according to the boat timings.
Broken Beach
Atuh Beach
3. Yogyakarta
Borobudur
As I said Bali is full of activities. once we landed to Bali first thing we did was a get a scooter to travel around. Because it’s so cheap and easy to travel and the cost per day for a bike is not more than 5 USD. unbelievable right 😎
Diamand Beach, Nusa Penida
After spending a day in Bali we booked a boat to Nusa Penida and I got a wonderful Stay via Booking.com which is in the middle of the Island. The reason to book a hotel in the middle of the island is, I wanted to travel both sides of the island so if I am in the middle I will not need to travel from one end to another and that save lots of time.
So my most wanted location was the Broken beach in Nusa Penida and The very next morning around 3.00 AM I left to Shoot the sunrise of the broken beach. As I said earlier I always use google map to get the location & Photopills helps me to get the perfect shot of blue hour, Golden hour and the sunrise.
Broken Beach, Nusa Penida
Yogyakarta
Capturing Borobudur with the sunrise is the main part of my trip to Indonesia, but I wasn’t lucky to capture that moment as that day was overcast. Apart from that, the ticket to this wonderful world heritage is so expensive compare to any of other locations. basically for Nusa Penida Island, they got 10000 IDR, but for Borobudur, it is 450,000/- IDR which equals to 33.00 USD.
Borobudur, Yogyakartha
Spending 33.00 USD for this historical Place isn’t an issue, but we have to face lots of difficulties even after paying that much amount of money is not acceptable. they allow every & each one who paid for the ticket, actually the sunrise they should have to allow a limited number of tourists. at least 100 persons, As every man with a smartphone trying to get selfies and they, even keep climbing on top of those statues which is very disrespectful.
Somehow I managed to grab a few wonderful clicks with the dramatic clouds in the sky and I moved out of the place after struggling few hours.
The next big thing of the trip is getting some images of waterfalls and we travelled more than 1500 KM on bikes for that. Bali is a Tropical Island, the people of Bali and their culture is amazing. they welcome tourist and they treated us very well. when my bike had a tired punch many unknowns guided to me to the closest garage and helped me to fix it very fast.
Capturing waterfall anywhere is very fun & relax. but in Bali, it’s more than fun. you’ll see many people who’re posing in front of waterfalls. especially those travel girls. I just asked a few of them to pose for me and they have posed like pro models.
