Reflecting on My ‘Beyond Borders’ Exhibition at Aljada

As I sit down to write this, I’m filled with gratitude for the incredible journey that my recent photography exhibition, Beyond Borders, took me on. Hosted at Reflection Park in Aljada, Sharjah, the exhibition ran from December 18th to 22nd, and I couldn’t be more proud of how it turned out.

The Story Behind ‘Beyond Borders’

This exhibition was not just a showcase of landscapes; it was a culmination of years of travel, exploration, and my deep love for nature’s raw beauty. Through my lens, I aimed to capture the essence of places that often go unnoticed — from the snowcapped forests of the Himalayas to the vast deserts and rugged mountain terrains.

The title Beyond Borders reflects my belief that the world’s beauty knows no boundaries. Whether it’s the deserts of the Middle East or the alpine landscapes of Central Asia, nature has a way of speaking a universal language of peace and awe.

A Perfect Venue: Reflection Park at Aljada

I couldn’t have asked for a better location for the exhibition. Reflection Park in Aljada provided the ideal backdrop to complement my work. The serene atmosphere of the park created an immersive experience, allowing visitors to feel connected to the images and the stories they told.

I was truly humbled to see so many people engaging with the photos — pausing, reflecting, and, in some cases, sharing their own travel experiences with me. Moments like these reminded me why I do what I do.

Gratitude for the Support

The opening day was a special one. I had the honor of presenting the exhibition to Arada’s leadership, including Chairman HH Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Vice Chairman HRH Prince Khaled bin Alwaleed bin Talal, and Group CEO Ahmed Alkhoshaibi. Their presence and support meant a lot, especially as Arada’s vision for sustainability and environmental preservation aligns with the core message of my work.

The positive feedback and encouragement I received from visitors, friends, and fellow photographers made this experience unforgettable. Hearing that my images resonated with people, that they inspired thoughts about preserving nature, was incredibly rewarding.

A Personal Milestone

Beyond Borders wasn’t just an exhibition for me — it was a milestone in my photography journey. It marked the realization of a dream to share my work in a meaningful way, to connect with people on a deeper level, and to raise awareness about the importance of appreciating and protecting the natural world.

The preparation process was intense, but it was worth every moment. From curating the images to setting up the exhibition space, every detail was carefully considered to ensure the message came across.

What’s Next?

While the exhibition may be over, the journey certainly isn’t. My travels and photography continue, and I’m excited to see where my camera takes me next. I’ve recently traveled to places like Kyrgyzstan, Saudi Arabia, and Azerbaijan, and I can’t wait to share more stories from those adventures.

Looking ahead, I’m motivated to create more exhibitions, collaborate with like-minded individuals, and use my art to bring attention to the beauty of our world — and the need to protect it.

A Heartfelt Thank You

To everyone who visited Beyond Borders, shared kind words, or supported me in any way — thank you from the bottom of my heart. Your encouragement fuels my passion and reminds me that art has the power to connect us, inspire us, and, hopefully, make the world a better place.

Until the next adventure,

Anushka Eranga
